Florida Hospital ER Wait Times Promo
When announcing a new website with up-to-the-minute ER wait times, the language of a rocket bike is universal. Spot 1 of a 4 in series.
Welcome, friend. I hope your virtual experience here is fine as cream gravy. I’m a freelance creative wordworker and senior interactive writer for one of Florida’s oldest, most prolific hospitals. Take a gander and soak in the surroundings. After all, this land is your land, too.
February 2009 – Present • Copywriter
Surprisingly, I was the first writer this 100-year old company had ever hired. Granted, it’s no first summit of Everest, but it did begin a sea change in how marketing was developed for the organization. Direct collaboration with the internal designers allowed us to begin taking on projects that had once been outsourced to agencies. Well received both by clients and award shows our ideas—untypical of an internal creative team—rewarded us with ever-increasing solicitations for more ideas and an expanding department to meet the demand. My involvement includes detailed concept development with both messaging and rough sketches*, full campaigns, headlines, body copy, program naming, and support content for every facet of Florida Hospital’s marketing needs (interactive, print, outdoor, collateral, video scripts, broadcast scripts and rough sketch* storyboards).
In November of 2011, I became lead interactive writer for the relaunch of FloridaHosptal.com and currently contribute to and manage much of the content being developed for our new web presence.

November 2008 – January 2009 • Copywriter
Soon after moving to Florida from Kauai, I was hired on by Evok. As one of two writers, I created headline and support copy for their diverse client roster, and concepted, collaborated and wrote for several full campaigns, including print, radio scripts, TV scripts, outdoor and web. Unfortunately a slackening economy coupled with deep client budget cuts forced a series of layoffs; after three months, I was let go. No tears.
February 2006 – July 2008 • Copywriter / Production
Kauai is essentially a giant National Geographic centerfold. And the rainbows. My God, the rainbows. When I wasn’t immersing myself in the utopian surroundings, much of my time was spent talking story with an immensely talented group of creative intellectuals, trapped in the bodies of downhill mountain bikers, surfers and tennis divas. As Tsunami’s sole in-house writer, I developed our clients’ own stories for web, print, collateral, radio scripts, newsletters and occasional press releases. With past experience managing print and broadcast production, I also assisted in quality control of printed materials, and facilitated voice talent and studio time.
